Stormy weather, Thanks Ernesto!

Tropical Storm Ernesto, as of 11am NYC time

Man, this weather is really starting to get me down. Today was supposed to be the only sunny day of this week and the next and, although it's not raining, it's not sunny either. It's basically a day of gloom and grayness, all thanks to tropical storm Ernesto, a storm that didn't even have the cojones to saddle it up and be a real hurricane but has instead managed to sabotage the weather on the last two weeks of summer. A perfect day for a thousand cocktails? Perhaps, but as it's just passed noon, we here at Pedro's HQ have decided to abstain ... for at least a few hours until such a time as it is arguably cocktail hour. However, in the spirit of full disclosure, a decisive factor in the postponement of said cocktails is that the girlfriend is fighting a nasty cold and has finally started her own cocktail of Robitussin and NyQuil (I passed). So without a partner in crime, yours truly will wait at least until the market closes.

As a result of the lousy weather in recent days, the girlfriend and I have been wasting away the days sleeping, eating and taking walks when the weather permits. We managed to see Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and have been planning to see Little Miss Sunshine this weekend (at least we were until we saw this from Uncle Grambo) but now the jury is out. Other than that there's not a lot at the theaters today that I can reasonably present to the girlfriend with any hopes of an answer in el affirmativo. Snakes on a Plane? I've been green lighted to go with Team Polizei's Kapitan but he's traveling. Beerfest? Unfortunately, Bullet lives in Budapest so I'd have to see that one alone and I'm not sure that I am willing to sink that low. Talladega Nights? Again, the Girlfriend says 'Nein!'

So it looks like I'm going to be hitting the vino and watching the Mole Man's work while I keep my eyes on the hottness that is Maria Sharapova (and ova and ova!!) out in Flushing Queens. Which, at the end of the day, isn't all bad.
